Voyager – Effortless Flight. Endless Adventure.
The next step in the evolution of the Cruiser family of wings, the Voyager retains all the advantages of the Cruiser GT, yet introduces a significant leap forward in technology that is unique to APCO Aviation, offering a high-end improvement over the Cruiser GT for pilots who want the very best without sacrificing ease of use or operational simplicity.
Split Cell Construction
In the Voyager, every canopy cell is divided into two smaller sections, increasing the number of profile segments across the span without adding overall weight or complexity.
The benefits are clear:
- Improved Profile Definition – A smoother, more accurate aerodynamic surface for optimal performance.
- Enhanced Stability – Reduced deformation in turbulence for a calmer, more predictable ride.
- Lower Drag – Cleaner airflow for better glide and improved fuel economy.
- Better Energy Retention – Increased safety and stability, even in rough air, across the entire weight range.
Advantages You’ll Notice in Flight
Control & Comfort:
- Better Handling & Maneuverability – More responsive turns with less input.
- Lower Brake Pressure & Easier Leg Steering – Reduced pilot fatigue during extended flights, with smoother and more intuitive control, enhancing comfort throughout the journey.
Launch & Cruise Efficiency:
- Improved Inflation – Faster, more consistent takeoffs in varied conditions.
- Lower RPM Cruise – Greater efficiency and reduced engine wear for all your flights.
Together, these advances make the Voyager safer, easier, and more enjoyable to fly – inspiring greater confidence for both experienced pilots and newcomers, while ensuring more rewarding and fun-filled flights.
The Voyager is available in a wide-attachment version in two sizes – 500 and 550.
Additional features carried over from the Cruiser GT that are just too good not to include:
- Speed ribs – for increased speed, higher stability and better wind penetration – more information below.
- Flow Aligned Ribs (FAR) – for optimizing and improving fuel consumption.
- Improvements to internal construction to optimize weight, strength and performance by improving surface smoothness.
Built for Reliability
Voyager continues APCO’s tradition of uncompromising quality: premium fabrics, reinforced line attachment points, and precision manufacturing.
Available in wide-attachment configuration, it integrates seamlessly with a wide variety of PPC airframes.

Voyager Colors
The Voyager is offered in an exciting, colorful new design incorporating APCO’s “A” into the top surface of the canopy with a Fire Red bottom to complement.
Important note – there are 6 variations of the color design, supplied randomly. No choice between variations is possible.
SPLIT CELLS – the details:
In a soft-structure (RAM Air) canopy, profile definition is limited by the number of ribs.
Adding more ribs improves definition, but also increases complexity, weight, and minimum taxiing speed.
The split cell design bridges the gap by splitting every cell into two parts for the first 40% of the chord – where 95% of lift is generated.
This delivers nearly all the efficiency of higher rib counts without the drawbacks.
SPEED RIBS – the details:
Inherited from the Cruiser GT, Speed Ribs are small internal ribs along the trailing edge that refine the canopy’s shape and improve aerodynamics.
By placing an extra rib between each pair of main ribs, the trailing edge cell count is effectively doubled, creating a sharper, cleaner airflow.
Additional advantages:
- Retains the same number of lines
- Same bottom surface layout, helping the pilot orient the canopy, lay it on the ground, and sort lines easily
Why it matters:
- Reduced drag – Less parasitic vortex for higher speed and efficiency
- Better fuel economy – Lower RPM at cruise
- Improved stability – Enhanced into-wind penetration and glide angle
- Sharper looks – Smooth, precise trailing edge, similar to a fixed-wing aircraft With negligible weight increase and no compromise to inflation, safety, or handling,
Speed Ribs deliver “free” performance gains while keeping the wing safe, efficient, and great-looking in the air.
In the image on the left speedribs shown are located on the trailing edge at the middle of each cell, reducing billowing and “Sharpening” the tail for cleaner, more aerodynamic flow behavior.
The images below show trailing edge vortex intensity with and without Speedribs

ADVANTAGES – The main advantages of the speed ribs are:
- Increased cruising speed
- Improved into the wind penetration and stability
- Better fuel consumption and reduced RPM due to the drag reduction
- Enhanced safety due to the improved glide angle
- Improved aesthetics with a cleaner, sharper trailing edge – similar to a fixed wing (planes) – very cool looking!!
The speed ribs offer “free” additional performance. The additional weight is negligible and the rest of the parameters – inflation, safety, handling – are unaffected and remain the best the industry has to offer.
