The safety webbing cage incorporated into the Lightning PM harness design will keep the pilot attached to the wing or the reserve parachute in a case of a frame or harness component failure.
This backup webbing circuit was designed to address the following cases:
Main hang point – main sliding webbing failure on the arm bow shackle
Main hang point – secondary sliding webbing on the small bottom maillon failure
Top back to frame attachment webbing failure
Harness main body fabric rapture
Frame arms failure
Main arms bow shackle failure
It is highly recommended to use reserve parachute on any flight.
APCO offers a range of Mayday parachutes and front mounted containers compatible with the Lightning harness.

What type of paramotor frame can the Lightning PM harness be installed on?
The Lightning harness can be installed on most paramotor frames with weightshift arms that have bow shackle on the tip of the arm that is used for attaching the main hang webbing of the harness.
It is highly recommended to use deep and wide bow shackles. The Harness is intended for “Low” hang point classification frames.
Can I mount a zipped on rescue container or side mounted rescue container?
The Lightning PM harness does not have zipped on rescue container available in its optional accessories.
The Lightning PM harness is compatible with front mounted reserve containers only intended for the main glider carabiners.
Attaching or mounting a reserve container or reserve parachute bridles on any point of the Lightning harness is dangerous and restricted.
How do I install the Safety Webbing?
The Lightning PM harness was designed with built in and comes with pre installed safety bridles and features. If the pilot wishes – Installing additional safety bridles is possible.
Please consult Apco aviation before installation.
What are the sizing options for the Lightning PM harness?
The Lightning PM is a sliding/variable main hang point harness that introduces increased comfort during takeoff, flight and landing. One of the benefits to this feature is wider seat height and depth adjustment range, making it compatible with a wider range of pilots. It was designed to be adjustable in key areas of the geometry:
Seat height
Seat depth
Lower back
Upper back
General adjustment options:
Front strap
Leg straps
Shoulder straps
Chest strap
Mid back to frame straps
Multiple adjustment options and extra seat and back padding incorporated into the design, enable pilots ranging from S to XL size to enjoy the comfort of the Lightning PM harness during both short and long flights.
I am a Paramotor Manufacturer, what are the customisation options for the Lightning PM harness ?
Custom Logo and branding is now easier than ever.
The shoulder cover on the harness is available for a custom logo embroidery or printing.
Minimum order quantity applies.
For orders of 40 harnesses or more with custom changes contractual or design, please contact our offices.
Can this harness be used for free flying or ground handling?
No!
The reason is that paramotor harnesses are designed to be hung from the middle of the side arms.
The main harness hook up points are connected to the front of the side arms, but using the side arms in reality your hanging point is somewhere in the middle of the side arms.
Using a paramotor harness main hook up points as the main hang points without side arms will result in harness position in which you are 90 degrees rotated backwards looking straight up to the canopy.
It is very dangerous and impossible to use in this way.
Ground handling is possible, but if there will be even momentarily enough lift to disattach the pilot from the ground, you will be flipped onto your back!
You can test this out yourself by performing a simple, stationary hang check in a safe environment.
Attaching the carabiners to any other point in the harness other than the main hang points is also strictly forbidden due to strength considerations of the harness.
The bottom part EP compartment is designed as a separate unit to be zipped onto the flight deck. It made from stretchable Neoprene fabric and can hold any size Emergency Parachute.
